US government hopes to rework telecom laws

House Energy and Commerce Committee chair Henry Waxman and Senate Commerce Committee chair John Rockefeller today said they would start debating proposals next month that could reform US telecom law. The two Democrats stressed that the meetings would be "bipartisan" but acted after 74 Democrat Congressmen said they had "serious concerns" about the FCC's proposed rule changes and thought official direction from the government was the best course of action.
