Kobo launches iPad e-book platform

Kobo has released eBooks by Kobo HD, an early e-book reader for the iPad. The app is claimed to be the first third-party reader to compete directly with Apple's iBooks. Over 2 million paid titles are available through eBooks HD, alongside a collection of free books. Kobo adds that it is also the only iPad vendor at present to carry material from Random House.
