Acer Taiwan president Scott Lin has confirmed his company doesn’t intend introducing a product to take on Apple’s iPod, pointing out that while it claims the technical skill to match the latter device, the company lacks the content distribution footprint of iTunes.Lin said he believes the iPad is unlikely to impact the notebook/netbook markets as the two products target completely different consumer groups, while pointing out that because Apple creates its own closed systems, other companies, “are unlikely to be able to replicate its result simply by copying”.Acer will focus on offering ultra-thin notebooks, despite Apple’s netbook challenge, Lin says.
