Apple is deliberately holding back on updating the iPhone firmware, a "close Apple connect" is said to have learned. While testing of v3.1.3 and even v4.0 firmware is believed to have been exposed in mid-December, no updates have been announced by Apple, or lately made available to developers or the public. The reason, says the source, is that there are too many references in current builds to Apple's upcoming tablet, which the company does not want leaked.
