Intel released a PDF document describing in details all new Quad Core Xeon. Hereafter are the new features; in addition to the brand new chipset:
- 45nm engraving
- 12MB Cache L2 (2 x 6MB for each couple of Cores) with a reduced latency.
- Improved efficiency and power consumption in low CPU loading conditions.
- New SSE instruction set, improving some tasks by up to 40%
- New optimized bus to further increase the bandwidth (1600MHz, 4x400MHz)
- Support for both FB-DIMM 667MHz and 800MHz
- Support for PCI Express 2.0
