Excellent. Check out the rules below -- we can't guarantee you'll get a BetaBlue flight with limited net access, but don't say we never gave you anything!
Leave a comment below. Tell us where you want to go! The map is after the break.

Caption contest, Xmas edition: AIBO Claus
Filed under: Features, Robots
Ho, ho, h-- er, woof, woof, woof! Even though AIBO has been spayed, so to speak, that doesn't mean the little guy can't dress up and get into the Christmas spirit just like the rest of his fellow Roombas and Robosapiens. Plus, we have to say, our old pal looks quite dashing in red.[Image courtesy of

Sony's upcoming DSC-S780 camera sneaks through the FCC
Filed under: Digital Cameras
We're a little curious as to why the FCC is so darn interested in a what appears to be a completely traditional camera -- none of the tests look to involve a wireless radio in the camera, just general interference when the camera is plugged in or sitting around. Unfortunately, while the FCC has plenty to say about its never-a-dull-moment testing procedures, the only information on the camera it has on offer is the model number: DSC-S780. We're guessing from that slim data that the camera is a slight updat

Asus monitors: your best defense against crossbow attacks?
This one's YouTube caption says it best: "Shooting at the monitor from the arbalest! Striking!" If you replace 'arbalest' with 'fancy European crossbow' you've got a recipe for entertainment. Some Ukrainian crazies got ahold of an Asus LS201 monitor with protective glass and really went all out. The hammer and nails scenes are less than convincing, but the crossbow moment has to be seen to be believed. Think of it as Ukraine's present to you. Video is after the break.[Via Engadget Chinese]

NYPD to trial all-electric scooters next month
Filed under: Transportation
New York's finest will also be some of New York's greenest next month, when the NYPD begins field testing four all-electric scooters from Rhode Island-based Vectrix USA. Although twice as expensive as the gas-powered Piaggio scooters that the department currently uses -- and with a fraction of their range -- the Vectrix offers police three attractive benefits: reduced fuel costs, lowered vehicle emissions, and, more practically, the element of surprise -- the scooters' nearly-silent engines should allow two-wheeled cops to approach suspects with more discretion. Sounds like a winner to us, as long as officers don't try pulling some eminent domain cra

Averatec shows off 12.1-inch 2500 laptop
Unless you've got a thing for interestingly designed lids, Averatec's latest portable isn't likely to impress. Sure, it's sporting a modest 2GHz AMD Turion 64 processor, 160GB hard drive, a dual-layer DVD burner, 2GB of RAM, ATI's Radeon X1270 graphics set, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and Windows Vista, but chances are you've already dozed off after reading that, haven't you?

Neues Patent gegen Software-Piraterie

Backstage: What’s Inside: Apple’s 2007 Dock Connector to USB Cable
For those who might be curious as to what’s inside Apple’s 2007 Dock Connector to USB Cable, here are some pictures of the disassembly process. Compare it with the components of the Composite AV Cable previously torn open here. Just like the shell of the AV Cable, the USB Cable’s white plastic enclosure can be popped open with a knife or other sharp cutting device. Using a pair of pliers helps to crack the sides and expose the innards.…
