Ahead of the Apple Music exclusive stream of the documentary ‘808’ set for Dec. 9, Apple has tweeted a new trailer for the film that focuses on Roland’s iconic TR-808 drum machine. ‘808’ was originally shown at the 2015 SXSW Film Festival and is just shy of 7/10 stars on IMDb as of this writing. Atlantic Records is offering the soundtrack album now and looks to be selling apparel in the near future. The tracklist includes a wide variety of genres and artists ranging from Hip Hop Be Bop (Don’t Stop) by Man Parrish, Paul Revere by the Beastie Boys, to Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz.
This documentary effort by Apple is of course in line with their work to blend the liberal arts and technology, and also seems to be on message with respecting and celebrating the past, such as their new hardbound book covering 20 years of Apple’s design history.
