Already last year, negotiations between Apple and Vivendi Universal as with other Music majors were difficult, even though Steve Jobs could impose his vision. The current discussion between Apple and Vivendi Universal for the renewal of its annual contract to sell music through iTunes Stores might lead to a serious fight. The main issue is related to pricing policies: Apple wants to have a fixed price/album while Universal would like to get the right to charge more for popular songs to capitalize on demand or, in the event of special promotions, to charge less. iTunes Store, as well other online platform, account for 15% of Universal’s worldwide
