Turbo Memory in Trouble

Source : DigitimesWith the release of Santa Rosa, one of its key feature was the Turbo Memory, aka Robson, supposed to boost booting time and repetitive tasks thank to flash memory installed directly on the motherboard. However, Turbo Memory did not deliver the expected boost in performance, and its additional cost massively slow down its adoption by OEM Intel was originally planning to add such technology to desktop motherboard. But following its non successful adoption for the notebook motherboard, the semiconductor giant will wait for version 1.5 of Robson, while delaying its integration in desktop by several months. To be effective, the turbo Memory needs several GB of dedicated flash memory , and the current low price of RAM modules push consumers and OEM to boost RAM capacity on their notebooks, rather than investing for 1 GB of Turbo Memory.
