A new report from Counterpoint Research covering the calendar third quarter of the year (ending in September) has revealed good news for Apple iPhone sales in two rapidly-expanding but still-developing markets: Africa and the Middle East (MEA). Annual shipments of iPhones in the regions were up 31 percent in Q3, which is three times the growth of smartphones there generally, and showed year-over-year growth of 133 percent, allowing Apple to enter the top five vendors by volume in the region.
