British carrier EE has pledged to spend £1.5 billion ($2.3 billion) over the next three years to spread 4G (LTE) service across the United Kingdom. The carrier plans to flood the country with 4G coverage, and is aiming to cover more than 99 percent of the population with 4G by 2017, exceeding its current footprint for its aging 2G service, and blanket 90-percent of the UK geography with the high-speed wireless connection.
