Apple's 2013 in review: June brings the Apple price fixing trial, Mavericks, Mac Pro at WWDC, Ive, Woz and more
The trial accusing Apple of e-book price-fixing began at the beginning of June. The Department of Justice filed the antitrust lawsuit in April 2012, alleging that Apple and five publishers - Penguin Group, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Hachette, and Macmillan - had conspired to raise e-book prices. The publishers, however, had all settled, agreeing to stop prohibiting wholesale discounts and to pay a cumulative $164m (about £107m), earmarked to benefit consumers. By the end of the month Apple's lawyers had tried to prove that at no point did Apple try to coordinate the activities of the publishers to fix prices. The trial came to a close in mid July when a US district court judge found Apple guilty,
