Apple unveiled OS X Mavericks in June, and since then, speculation about the Mavericks release date has been intense. Tonight, at Apple's 22nd October iPad launch event, Apple announced that Mavericks is available right now, and will be a free upgrade for all versions of Mac OS X going back to 2009 - that's Snow Leopard and later.
