Costing as much as $1,000, the iPhone faces sales challenges in India

Buying an Apple device in India isn't odd, but as ZDNet reports, it can be significantly more difficult than it is in the U.S., Europe, or elsewhere. Not only are there no official Apple Stores in the country, but buying the phones from the merchants who do carry them can be downright bank-breaking. Wireless operators in the region will be selling the base models of the iPhone 5c and 5s for prices ranging from 40,000 rupees ($650 USD) to more than 50,000 rupees ($815 USD), with a 64 GB iPhone 5s going for as 71,500 rupees ($1,163 USD).
