Cloud service Dropbox has announced a new platform feature, dubbed Quick Preview. The option lets people get a glimpse at the contents of files without having to open them in their native apps. Only some filetypes are being supported, such as DOC, DOCX, PowerPoint, and PDF; Excel is a notable omission. So far, only the web and Android versions of Dropbox have been upgraded, and full web deployment may take several months.
