Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices, in an effort to help it diversify into new markets, has hired two senior engineers. Charles Matar, recently of Qualcomm has been hired as AMD's vice president of System-on-Chip (SoC) development. Additionally, Wayne Meretsky formerly on the '90s-era Macintosh development team has been named Vice President of software intellectual property development, and will head software developments for the manufacturer's product lines.
