Facebook today rolled out updates to its Facebook Messenger app for both Android and iOS, bringing the ability to send quick voice messages to other users' Facebook inboxes. The social network has also begun rolling out a pilot program that uses the Facebook Messenger app as a VOIP platform, allowing users to call their friends for free from within the app. While the app allows users to talk without using their carrier voice minutes, the VOIP feature does take away from users' data allowance.
