A new study by Strategy Analytics shows that Appleís iPad will continue to lead downloads for tablet apps through 2017. The iPad will continue to lead the market in downloads with a share of 56 percent, with the new iPad mini will help to pave a new wave of tablet app downloads from the App Store. Conversely, by 2017, Google Android-powered smartphones will lead the market in app downloads with a 45 percent share, while Appleís iPhone app downloads will comprise half that at 22 percent. In total, tablet and smartphone app downloads between 2008 and 2017 will total 350 billion.
