The most recent update for Office for Mac 2011 brings the software into full compatibility with the Retina display featured on some of Apple's newer notebooks. The update was announced today in a post on the Office for Mac blog. If users have enabled Microsoft AutoUpdate, the update to version 14.2.4 should trigger automatically.
