Alongside another raft of iPhone and iPad prototype sketches and designs, Apple claims that the design process that culminated in its first smartphone predated its Sony-tinged renders. The Verge spotted Apple's latest filing to the court from its trial against Samsung, which reveals its "Purple" prototype [above left] that was made around August 2005 and bares several hallmarks of the iPhone that finally appeared.
