Apple has settled for $60 million with Proview over its alleged infringement of the iPad trademark in China, according to Reuters. Apple had claimed that it was the legal owner of the iPad trademark after buying the naming rights from Proview legitimately in 2009 by using a shell company. However, although Apple claimed its deal should have also included the transfer of the naming rights in China, though this did not happen, which by default left Proview in control of the iPad name in China.
