Yesterday's 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas replaced the traditional "red envelope," instead using a Sony Tablet P model to read the names of winners. Because the tablet uses a folding design, it was ideal to recreate the "reveal" moment while giving it a digital update. The awards were hosted by Modern Family's Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell, and featured noteworthy tributes to Whitney Houston and Donna Summer, the latter of whom died unexpectedly just last week.
