Twitpic, a widely-used service for posting photos and videos on Twitter, took a step towards direct competition with Instagram, which was recently acquired by Facebook. It has released a free app for iPhone and iPod Touch includes basic editing tools, filters and a comments section. Users can also see daily popular content and photos or videos from people the user follows.
