The US Department of Veterans Affairs has opted to terminate its Microsoft Software Assurance for Volume Licensing agreement for the 300,000 employees who use the tech giant's operating system and applications. The three-year agreement, which typically requires customers to pay an annual fee based on 29 percent of the price of desktop and server software in exchange for discounts on upgrades and support, costs the department millions each year.
