Following a new partnership with NASA's Night Sky Network, First Light has updated its Distant Suns 3 app with support for viewing local astronomical activity. The astronomy app uses GPS and compass data from iOS devices, as well as an augmented reality-based interface to help users identify stars. Version 3.0 also improves overall performance and has added a lens flare to add a more photographic quality to the imagery. Distant Suns is available in the App Store for $9.99.
