I first came across Backflip Studios' Julian Farrior back at GDC a few years ago. At the time, his company's biggest title was called Paper Toss, and he also had a game in the store called Ragdoll Blaster, a physics puzzler where you threw dummies out of a cannon. Back then, Farrior talked at length about how he was using ads in the Paper Toss app to drive sales of his paid titles, and his big plan was to use whatever worked to make his company successful on the App Store.
