I'm a big fan of the Skitch screenshot/annotation tool on the Mac; while there are countless ways to make and share quick image captures, Skitch combines the features I need most often with an accessible and friendly interface. The original 2007 beta lingered in pre-release form before finally going 1.0 last year, and the Skitch platform was acquired by Evernote back in August 2011.
