A new app on the App Store, Stamped (free), promises to make the "recommendation engine" concept work better -- particularly for people with off-mainstream tastes. It achieves this by creating a system where the user only sees recommendations for restaurants, movies, items and music from people they already know, whose opinions are already trusted. The app also features a built-in mechanism against "bribed" or frivolous reviews.
