Verizon's doubled 4G data cap promo is as much to serve iPhone users as it is LTE Android users, CFO Fran Shammo told an investment event on Wednesday. The deal was "enticing" Android users on 3G phones to trade up to 4G so the carrier could accommodate more 3G iPhone owners. The iPhone was selling "very well" on Verizon, he said, and keeping those on other platforms on 4G made sure Verizon didn't have to pay for an upgrade to keep 3G running smoothly.
