HTC is a few months away from finishing a plant that would nearly double its smartphone output, supply chain reports claimed Tuesday. The plant in Taoyuan should be done in early 2012 and make as many as 40 million phones a year, Digitimes was told. With HTC's shipments estimated to peak at 48 million in 2011, the addition would give it much more room to scale.
