Apple might use the iPad 3 to kick off its first redesign of its longstanding Dock Connector if a rumor is authentic. The design, mentioned by a "reliable Asian source" to Macotakara and spotted in a TVC-Mall listing, would still be electrically compatible and use 30 pins but would be significantly smaller. The part is visibly different than the iPad 2 connector, with considerably less of a footprint.
