Intel in its third Developer Forum keynote in as many days showed off two long-term future technologies. The Near Threshold Voltage Processor, teased earlier, uses very low voltage circuits that can dip to as low as 10mW under light tasks, just above the namesake power levels needed for transistors to work, CTO Justin Rattner said. Its efficiency is enough that, in the Wednesday keynote, Intel had shown the processor running on a stamp-sized solar cell.
