Iridium stepped out of its usual phone focus by making one of the first mobile hotspots to use mobile satellite Internet access. The AxcessPoint tethers to the new Extreme or earlier 9555 satellite phone to provide data anywhere the phone can reach an Iridium craft in orbit. Although it just peaks at about 27Kbps, it can provide data to a handheld or computer when even cellular Internet access isn't available.
