Samsung on Tuesday unveiled a consumerized version of the PM830 solid-state drive it unveiled just last week. Now just called the 830 series, the drive has the same 500MB per second peak speed and SATA 3.0 (6Gbps) bus but is packaged in a way that will let regular users drop it in as an upgrade. The 2.5-inch, mostly notebook-oriented drive is about twice as fast as what had been available before.
