Despite the overall dismal employment situation in the U.S., highly-qualified engineers are finding no shortage of job opportunities as high-tech companies in Silicon Valley and elsewhere expand and increase their demand for top-flight workers. Twenty to 25 engineers recently laid off at Cisco have already been snapped up by Apple, says Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry, with others likely going to companies like Google, Dropbox, Facebook and Twitter who are also hiring.
