Some have argued that Apple faced its first major challenge on the desktop in some time when Windows 7 arrived; how do you improve your interface when Microsoft managed to tackle many gripes in one fell swoop and arguably had its best release ever? Apple's answer in Mac OS X Lion is to take a cue from an even simpler interface on the iPad. But is this the way of the future, or an instance of company synergy run amok?
