Samsung's semiconductor head Kwon Oh-hyun in public remarks [reg. required] gave hints that at least Samsung, and possible Apple and other companies, might face a slump in mobile devices and TVs in the second half of the year. Normally expecting a spike in demand for flash memory and other chips as the industry ramps up sales for the end of the year, Samsung now believes demand is "likely to remain flat" compared to the start of the year. LCDs were also going through the low point of a cycle and weren't expected to bounce back for some time.
