Apple has placed production orders for 380,000 new-model MacBook Airs this month, says Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The claim is based on industry checks, which also allegedly indicate that about 55 percent of the units will be 11.6-inch systems. The size is believed to be more popular than the alternative 13.3 inches, owing to price differences. Whereas 11.6-inch Airs start at $999, the cheapest 13.3-inch computer is $1,299.
