Sprint in discussing its latest results said it had seen a notable impact from the Verizon iPhone 4. Although Sprint still had its best performance in recent years, Apple's expansion provided "very strong competition" and likely took away from potential sales, Sprint chief Dan Hesse said. In a surprise, however, he added that the price-cut, $49 iPhone 3GS at AT&T was as important factor as well by drawing customers over who wanted a budget smartphone.
