Everlight Electronics has shipped samples of some LED backlighting components to Apple for validation, according to Chinese-language publication the Commercial Times. What the parts will be used for is unspecified beyond the realm of tablets; that, however, implies either the iPad 2 or a future iPad 3, which would be several months away from shipping at the earliest, more likely almost a year. Everlight has reportedly been selling 2,000 millicandela backlights for tablets since March.
