The annual ShowStoppers event at CES gave us an opportunity to try Orbotix' new Sphero remote controlled ball and to both get early impressions as well as extra launch details. The Bluetooth ball itself is very simple and glows in one of multiple colors, but the app is the true highlight. It uses a virtual joystick that guides the ball relative to the user's position rather than from the ball's point of view: you push it away to move away, for example.
