The Financial Times is planning to give its 1,800-plus workers £300 or $480 payouts as credit against the cost of a tablet, an internally circulating memo reveals. The newspaper's CEO, John Ridding, acknowledges in the memo that the money is not only a performance bonus, but intended to encourage familiarity with tablets, judge their potential, and also serve as a work aid while traveling. The Times already has a limited tablet footprint in the form of an iPad app.
