Production of a Verizon iPhone will start before the year is out, claim sources allegedly briefed by Apple. The design is expected to be similar to the current iPhone 4, only based on the CDMA cellular standard instead of the GSM technology used in all iPhones to date. Qualcomm is said to be providing "a key chip;" as for an actual release date, the sources point to the first quarter of 2011. Verizon's CEO has stated that the carrying the device is just a matter of time.
