Barnes & Noble has launched its Pubit! self-publishing service for the Nook e-reader. The service gives writers and content owners a web-based system for converting material in Microsoft Word, TXT, HTML or RTF to the Nook ePub format. Pubit! material will be available on the Nook Wi-Fi and 3G devices as well as personal computers and smartphones running the Nook software. Compensation for publishers is based on list price. Commissions for Pubit! ebooks will be 65 percent for works priced between $3 and $10, and 40 percent for other material.
