It should be possible to hack the Apple TV like any other iOS device, users note. When connected to a computer via a micro USB cable, the device registers in iTunes. More importantly a restore option becomes available, which should allow hackers to save SHSH blobs, jailbreak the firmware, and ultimately install unofficial apps. Power and HDMI cables must be disconnected for an Apple TV to be detected in iTunes.
