St. Clair Software has launched App Tamer, a new Mac utility that can automatically pause applications to help reduce CPU usage and improve battery life. The application works by pausing applications when a user switches to another task, freeing up additional resources, and then restarts any working tasks when the app is brought back into the foreground. App Tamer comes pre-configured to automatically pause Safari, Firefox, and Chrome, while other applications can be setup by users.
