FCC officials today tossed rumors [sub. required] that they were softening plans for net neutrality regulation. An unnamed agency staffer told the WSJ that Chairman Julius Genachowski had "absolutely not" given up on the existing strategy of reclassifying some parts of Internet use to tighten regulation. A Credit Suisse investment analyst had claimed earlier in the day that the FCC was giving up and would please telecom companies by conceding to their demands.
