Apple is planning an unusually early event for the announcement of new iPods, a "reliable source" claims. The company normally showcases new iPods in September, along with iTunes enhancements and any other products that might be relevant. The source suggests, though, that Apple has this year scheduled an event for around August 14th to the 16th. Since the 14th and 15th fall on the weekend, the 16th or 17th may be more likely.
