A Democratic senator from New York, Charles Schumer, has taken the unusual step of writing an open letter to Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The company should explain the real reason the iPhone 4 is having reception problems, according to the senator. Apple's proposed solutions, such as a case or a different grip, are so far said to be "insufficient." Schumer in fact disputes an earlier claim that the issue is software-based, citing Consumer Reports' recent hardware test of the device.
