Sprint today suffered a critical setback today as the carrier's CDMA network appeared to be suffering an outage through most or all of New York City. Data over 3G and 4G still appears to be working. The carrier in a statement said that one of its voice over IP switches encountered an "equipment failure" that rerouted voice traffic the wrong way after an attempted repair, creating congestion on the whole area network.
